Below is information about the life
and ministry of San Leandro Community Church--from ongoing activities to our community partnerships. Take a few moments to
discover how you can become involved in working, serving,
and playing together.
Aerobics Classes
Did
you know that our very own Darlene Scott offers aerobics classes on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.? These special classes are
designed for those who may need gentle help to become active again - or
for those who are older and don't want to work out in a room filled
with "perky young things." All are welcome to join these classes and
work out in a room filled with "perky and fun-loving phenomenal
women." Contact us to check the schedule.
Recycle Batteries!
Have
you been wondering what to do with all those used batteries now that we
are not supposed to put them in the trash? Why not bring them to
church? As part of our church's ever-growing recycle program we are
now accepting your old batteries. You will find a container on the
table at the back of the sanctuary. Hope this makes your life a little
easier.
Used cell phones
We
now recycle old cell phones as well. You may drop your cell phones off
at the church. In addition to being a lot better for the environment
than dropping them in your garbage can, this recycling effort works as
a fundraiser for our congregation as well.
Christmas Project Fund
We celebrate Christmas year-round at SLCC. The Council recently established a Christmas Project Fund to collect special gifts throughout the year. These gifts will be used
in December to assist families with last minute emergency needs. To contribute designate "Christmas Project Fund" on your offering envelope.
Fair Trade Coffee
Do
you like a good cup of coffee? Do you want to make a difference in the
world? Why not put your coffee money to work in making a positive
impact in the lives of small farm owners in coffee producing
countries! San Leandro Community Church now has Beneficio Coffee for
sale. For more information on how you can have your coffee and make a
difference too, please visit the Beneficio Coffee website.
Beneficio Coffee sells for $7.25 per 12 oz. bag. The choices are All City Roast, French Roast and Decaf in ground or whole beans. Contact the church office for more info.
Food Pantry
We
are always in need of items to replenish our food pantry. Especially
useful are cans with the new easy open tops. In addition to canned
goods we also could use rice and pasta, things children might enjoy
such as individual juice boxes, and single serve snacks. Grocery stores
often have special 10 for 10 sales, so when you are out doing your own
supply run, pick up a little extra for the pantry.

APRIL SHOWERS...
Travel-Sized Toiletries
Because
these items are distributed each shower day, the supply goes quickly.
If you'd like to contribute but don't have time to shop, simply
designate your check "April Showers" and we'll do the shopping
for you. Our red wagon in the sanctuary is the collection area. Click here for more information on April Showers

Bag Lunch Preparation
As
part of our ongoing partnership with the other members of the
Interfaith Homeless Network, we participate in the rotating schedule of
volunteers who prepare the bag lunches for distribution during shower
days. April Showers regularly provides access to a meal, shower, and
clean clothes for 80-100 people on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the
month.
Currently
we prepare lunches for every fifth Sunday. For our appointed day, we
provide both labor and ingredients for making the lunches. We meet on
the Saturday before, usually in the afternoon. Its a great time to get
together and have some fun while making a difference in our community.
For exact times please refer to our online calendar.
If
you don't have time on Saturdays, but still want to lend a hand,
donations are always welcome to offset the cost of supplies. To
designate your funds for this project, simply mark your check "bag
lunches" on the memo line.
